2018 is going to be the best year of my life

This photo is pretty accurate about how I feel about life right now. I'm tired and feel beat down by life, but I love this little nugget and my little family.

2018 is going to be the year that my baby turns 1. She's going to learn how to talk, how to feed herself, how to walk and how to do a million little things that will be a great surprise and joy to me as they happen.

This year is going to be full of change and growth, not just on her part, but on my part as a person as well. I want to embrace the change and learn to better live in the moment so that none of them pass me by.

Right now, things are a struggle, tbh. My mom, who watches Lazy Baby while Mr. LL and I are at work, has to have surgery and won't be able to watch her anymore (at least for 5-6 months) so we are having to put Lazy Baby in daycare. The cost is overwhelming to think about, but my mom has offered to help us some with this burden (though I really don't want it to be a burden on her). We had hoped to save to buy a house this year, but I guess life had different plans for us.

Then there's also just finding a daycare that can take her at all. Sigh.

But, it's only January and there is a lot more of 2018 to come, so I'm not going to count the year as a wash just yet.

Weekly Goals + New weekly chore

Last week, I decided to throw back to my Baby Steps and start over. However, I'm not looking at this as a "challenge" so much this time because that implies an end date. No, I want to make forever changes to my lifestyle habits and regain some control in my life.

I started with making the bed and that went ok, though it was really hard to make myself do it during the weekend. So this week, in addition to continuing to make the bed every single day, I'm adding a new daily, non-negotiable task.

I've been thinking hard about what it should be. There are a ton of things I could do, but I need to figure out what would be best. I've narrowed it down to either taking the clothes out of the dryer (to be put away once I get home from work) OR putting the clean dishes away every morning. I think I'm going with dishes because that area is more of a disaster than the laundry, in all honesty.

This may sound like stupid daily task, but hear me out. We don't have a dishwasher, so we wash everything by hand then put it to dry in a rack by the sink. For some reason, there is a mental block when it comes to putting these dishes away. They stay in the rack till we actually do dishes again. Then they get put away and the rack gets immediately filled back up with new dishes. The mental block comes in because having that rack full makes it harder for me to ACTUALLY do the dishes. Even though putting away the clean dishes is the easiest part of doing the dishes, just seeing the full rack by the full sink equals complete overwhelm. So, if I empty the rack before I actually need to in order to do the dishes, maybe it won't feel like such a daunting task to do them and they will get done in a more timely fashion. Right? That's what I'm hoping for, at least.

So, this week I will:
• Make the bed every day
• Put away the clean dishes every morning

New Line Up

Hi friends!

Just a quick post about what's coming up this month on the blog.

What I'm Loving is moving to Fridays starting next week! It's going to include links to things I've been digging online as well.

Lazy Cleaning is now going to be on Mondays. Yes, as in EVERY MONDAY. O.o I know. But I need to get my butt in gear when it comes to keeping a clean house. For reals.

On a similar note, Lazy Cooking is going to be EVERY. FREAKIN. WEDNESDAY. Uh huh, you read that right. It kicked my butt in the past when I did it every week, but we got some good food out of it. Some posts will not be ground breaking, I can promise you that; but it will be entertaining if not delicious. I hope.

And of course, Goal Getter will still be every Sunday. Going strong and keeping me on task.

As for things like Once A Month Gamer and the gift guides I do, plus the free planners I've been making, those will still be going up, just on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday.

So, that's it. Just wanted to let you know what's up and what to expect. Hope you like the new Lazy Lady.
